Recycled Materials, Naturally Beautiful

Pendulum Clocks

Ordinary boxes are commonly made from singlewall or doublewall corrugated. Triplewall is a little more unusual. The next time you're in a grocery store, look for the giant corrugated bins that hold melons or bags of vegetables. The first one I got held bags of carrots so I generally refer to them as carrot corrals. Triplewall is really strong but more difficult to cut.

Pendulum clock sizes and shapes vary widely. Individual clocks are handcrafted and no two are exactly alike.

Each clock is made from recycled materials that are environmentally sustainable and earth friendly. Both the clock structure and corrugated mosaic pieces are created from clean, sturdy, 100% post-consumer corrugated materials.

After the glue has dried, the clock structure is so strong that I can stand on the bare frame. The corrugated mosaic is a bit more delicate so don't try this with a finished clock.

The surface mosaic is made from peeled sections of recycled corrugated cartons, generally singlewall material.
When selecting corrugated material to peel, I look for interesting colors and a variety of textures. I then cut the peeled material into small squares, triangles, rectangle and/or other shapes to fit into the mosaic design as it develops.

Mosaic Styles

- Abstract mosaic design with 90 degree angles; squares and rectangles
- Abstract mosaic design with 45 degree angles; rectangles and triangles
- Mosaic with pattern; squares, rectangles and/or triangles, expect a wide variety within this style

The recycled content of clocks is about 95%. Clock works are usually new, not recycled, and run on a single AA battery. Rechargable batteries are highly recommended.

The style of the frame and the type of clockface can be mixed and matched on custom orders.

Custom orders are a great way to create a special gift to celebrate the milestones in our lives:
birthdays, graduations, promotions, weddings, anniversaries, a new business, retirement or seasonal holidays.
It is a unique and very powerful expression of your appreciation of the events and people in your life.

The traditional first anniversary gift is paper and recycled paper is a very green, renewable and sustainable gift - for any occasion.

I created a wedding gift with a nautical chart clock face in a rectangular frame: the groom lived in Haines, Alaska and they had spent much of their summer vacations there and would be living in Colorado after the wedding..
A California recycling agency ordered a wall clock shaped like a recycling symbol with three green arrows pointing around the triangle. One arrow was a calendar picture of trees, on other was a collage of green postage stamps, and the third was cut from a green topographical map. It hangs on the wall of a traveling exhibit promoting green and sustainable building.

A customized gift makes a unique and powerful expression of how you feel about someone special.

I invite you to visit the ARCHIVE section of Corrugated Art, where you'll find a wide variety of clocks and other things I've created over the years. There you will find samples of past work and get ideas for custom or personalized clocks that you can have created for a special occasion.
